Camp Pine Canyon
One of the best things about summer at Pine Canyon is Camp Pine Canyon. Kids love it. And, parents do, too.
It’s become known as a bastion for outside voices, splashing, exploration, and athletics, tailored specifically for young families who want to get the most out of every drop of northern Arizona’s summer sunshine. And this season will be no different.
Camp Pine Canyon, which officially opens for the season on May 25, truly has something for just about any interest a child or family has. This year, we plan to combine happy hour and family game night and celebrate both on Taco Tuesdays, from 4-6 p.m. We will also “Rock the Pool” on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m., and host S’mores & Stories every Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m.
Throughout the summer, kids can fine tune their athletic talents by practicing with the junior golf and tennis groups, which meet several times a week. Culinary-minded kids can indulge in junior chef classes, while those who like basketball, dance, soccer, robotics or theatre can get involved with mini-camps offered through Camp Pine Canyon. And, girly girls can look forward to tea parties intended for them and their American Girl dolls.
Teens can even get in on the fun, offering a mini-vacation from social media and video games. Teen Adventure Days, held on Mondays and Wednesdays between May 28 and August 8, feature getaways to Flagstaff Extreme, Grasshopper Point, Wet Beaver Creek, Bearizona, Out of Africa Wildlife Park and the Flagstaff Climbing Gym. Camp Pine Canyon also offers night camp on Fridays from 6-10 p.m., giving parents time to themselves.
All organized activities at Camp Pine Canyon require an RSVP. To learn more about Camp Pine Canyon’s schedule, visit www.pinecanyon.net or call 928-779-5700.
