Calamity Jane – Women’s Major
Martha Jane Cannary; sharpshooter and storyteller of the wild west, pushing against the grain to shape history. Acquiring her nickname from Captain Egan, that is, right after she saved him during combat. He smirks, “I name you Calamity Jane, the heroine of the plains.”
At Pine Canyon, Calamity Jane has a slightly different definition, as our all women’s major. This member-guest tournament holds three days of camaraderie and competition, all themed around the famous wild west heroine.
Tournament week kicks off with a practice round and welcome reception, an opportunity for members to catch up with their guests and get them comfortable with our Jay Morrish Championship Course. Day two introduces official tournament play, competitive team-based formats that let any level golfer in on the fun. Followed by the awaited Ladies Night, an evening of live entertainment, gourmet cuisine, and most years end with a bull-ride, inflatable of course.
When day three rolls about the ladies are eager to play their final round, bearing matching uniforms, they are ready to win their flight and compete in the shootout for Overall Champion.
But golf tournaments at Pine Canyon aren’t just about taking home a trophy, although having your name engraved for everyone to see doesn’t sound so bad. They’re about creating memories, binding friendships, and growing the Pine Canyon family in and outside the gates.
